[ARCHIVED] 2022 Township Budget Adopted

The Board of Supervisors last night adopted the Township’s 2022 budget.

The budget keeps tax rates steady in the Township. A homeowner with a property assessed at the Township average of $227,000 would pay $726 in Township taxes in 2022. The Township’s combined real estate millage rate is the fifth lowest in Montgomery County.

The budget includes funding for the replacement of the Pulaski Road Bridge, regional water quality enhancements and money for a variety of preliminary improvements to Mermaid Park to bring new utilities to the property and to further stabilize remaining structures on the site.

As part of the Board meeting, the Board authorized the advertising of an ordinance that would place a referendum on an increase to the current Earned Income Tax (EIT) on the May 17, 2022 election ballot. The Board will consider the ordinance at its meeting on January 18.

The increase to the EIT would be used to help pay down debt from open space acquisition and for open space maintenance. Any increase to the EIT would have to be approved by voters in a referendum before it could go into effect. The proposed increase would add $40 to the typical person’s EIT payment.
