As the weather clears and the spring construction season gets underway, crews will soon begin work on a new inclusive playground at Mermaid Park.
This long-awaited project will bring a nature-based playground to the community that goes beyond simply meeting ADA accessibility requirements. The new playground will be comprised of three “pods,” each offering a variety of sensory, physical and educational experiences for users.
The project is partially funded by a PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) grant. Along with these improvements, additional parking will be added to the area and pathways from the parking area to the pods will be improved.
Most of the park will be open and accessible during construction, but park users are asked to avoid the work area.
