The Sewer Division received the safety award due to its monthly safety inspections and monthly safety meetings. They received the operation and maintenance award for diligence in caring for 150 miles of sanitary sewer piping and seven pump stations.
Whitpain’s Sewer Superintendent, Gus Belmont was recognized with the A.E. “Bud” Fricker Memorial Individual Service Award which is given for outstanding service in the water pollution control field. Since joining the Township in 1991, Gus has introduced a massive inflow and infiltration program, a comprehensive restaurant grease trap program, and created an intensive maintenance program for the collection system.
